Trading

Clinker is handled as a dry bulk commodity for cement producers and industrial buyers.

Ibn Al Furat Building Materials Trading LLC trades bulk construction materials, principally cement clinker in OPC and SRC grades. Other bulk construction materials can be discussed as part of a specific enquiry.

Quantity, grade and delivery basis are agreed for each shipment, and the cargo can be carried on the company's own dry-bulk fleet.

Grades

OPC and SRC

Both grades are traded as physical bulk cargoes.

OPC clinker

Ordinary Portland cement clinker, the bulk intermediate used by cement producers for ordinary Portland cement. Chemical limits and origin are agreed for each shipment.

SRC clinker

Sulfate resistant clinker, traded where the buyer requires a sulfate-resisting grade. It is a separate commercial grade from OPC.

Movement of the cargo

Clinker is a dry bulk cargo, so ocean freight can be offered with the commodity on Ibn Al Furat's own fleet.

Agreed per cargo

What a clinker enquiry should set out

A cement producer or trader may ask the company to supply clinker, to purchase or take offtake from a seller, or to look at the sea freight for a cargo.

  • OPC clinker, SRC clinker, or both.
  • Whether the enquiry is supply or purchase.
  • An indicative quantity for that shipment.
  • Load and discharge areas, if the cargo is to move by sea.
  • Whether freight should be quoted with the commodity.
  • The timing the buyer or seller is working to.
Questions

Questions on clinker cargoes

Short answers to the points cement producers and traders usually ask before they send an enquiry.

What bulk construction materials does Ibn Al Furat trade?

Cement clinker, in OPC and SRC grades. Other bulk construction materials can be discussed as part of a specific enquiry.

What is the difference between OPC and SRC clinker?

OPC is ordinary Portland cement clinker. SRC is sulfate resistant clinker, a separate commercial grade. Chemical limits are agreed for each shipment.

Who buys clinker from Ibn Al Furat?

Cement producers, grinding units, industrial buyers and trading houses in the Middle East and international markets.

Can clinker and ocean freight be discussed together?

Yes. Clinker is a dry bulk cargo, and Ibn Al Furat operates its own fleet of dry-bulk vessels, so the cargo and its freight can be offered together.

What should a clinker enquiry set out?

OPC, SRC, or both; whether the enquiry is supply or purchase; an indicative quantity; load and discharge areas if the cargo is to move by sea; whether freight should be included; and the timing the buyer or seller is working to.
